April is Parasite Prevention Month!
The grass is starting to turn green, there are little buds on the trees, and the sun stays out longer with each passing day. You know what this means: spring time is here! For us two-legged folks this marks the beginning of picnics, grilling, and all sorts of outdoor activities. For our four-legged friends though, it marks the beginning of something else, PARASITE SEASON! While these creepy crawlies can be active year-round, they really amp up their appearances as the weather gets warmer. Our pets are at an increased risk for fleas, ticks, heartworms, and all sorts of intestinal parasites this time of year. Some of these parasites are zoonotic, meaning that humans can be affected by them as well. To help keep your entire family safe the Companion Animal Parasite Council recommends year-round broad spectrum parasite control. There are plenty of easy options, including oral medications and topical ones. April is Parasite Prevention Month here at Oakland Hills Veterinary Hospital, so give us a call or come in and see us! We have some amazing promotions and rebates on our preventatives, not to mention all the free goodies we are going to be handing out!
