Microchip Month!

It’s official! Summer is here after one of our long, cold Michigan winters. Everyone is itching to spend as much time outdoors as possible, including our furry family members. Dogs and cats can’t wait to feel the grass under their paws, and will often slip away the first time we turn our backs. In fact, statistics show that 1 in 3 pets will become lost at some point in their lifetimes, no matter how diligently we watch them. Whether it’s a determined cat clawing through a window screen, or those oh-so-common fireworks that cause many dogs to panic and flee, there are numerous ways our friends can escape through no fault of our own.  Without ID, 90% of them will never make their way back home. Fortunately there is an inexpensive, simple solution: microchipping! Microchips, which are no bigger than a grain of rice, are made of bio-glass, which is used extensively in human and animal implants. Each chip contains a unique code (tied to your contact information) which is read by a special scanner via a radio wave signal. Most shelters and veterinary hospitals will have a microchip scanner, and that is one of the first things done when a lost or stray pet is brought in. The implantation process is incredibly simple. A special syringe is used to inject the chip under the skin of your pet. Once the chip is in, we will send in your registration form for you and you can get back to enjoying the more important things in life! In less than 5 minutes you can help guarantee that your pet is always by your side.  For the month of June we are offering microchip implantation and registration for only $35, that’s a savings of 35%! Give us a call today to schedule your pet’s appointment!
